Where are you from?
Why are you involved with SFO?
I am passionate about the mission of creating a safe, supportive and badass community of people helping people.
What emotional reasons?
I have lived through many losses: innocence, security and relationships due to mental illness, abuse, and suicide. No one is in it alone, I hope to let others know they are not and will not be alone in their struggles.
What inspires you?
My children, my work and my hope for a better tomorrow. We learn and grow from every single one of our life experiences.
What’s your dream?
To educate our community that 1 in 4 of us live with a mental health issue. And, to empower our community to not only reach out for help but to help each other.
Who is your hero?
Do I have to choose one? If I had to narrow it down it would be my mother; she was strong, she was a survivor and she loved with her entire being. My mother not only taught us to love and be loved, she also taught us to make mistakes and to learn from them.
What really burns your biscuit?
My oven *bazinga*, and those who disrespect others because they’ve never been in their shoes.
Your favorite quote?
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ~ Dr. Suess… Not only is the Lorax both of my kids’ favorite story, it’s mine too.
I can’t live without:
Chapstick, it’s been a lifelong love affair.

We are a non-profit organization servicing the great state of Michigan. We work to strengthen our community by spreading awareness and educating others about mental illness and suicide prevention, supporting and advocating on behalf of those in need, and connecting them with resources.
