Where are you from?
Why are you involved with Six Feet Over?
I had been doing fundraising and awareness through my “baby” Suck It! Suicide for a few years, and I was getting a lot of encouragement from my community to form a non-profit. I’m passionate about helping, and Six Feet Over is what I was born to do.
What emotional reasons?
My Mom died by suicide in 2003 when I was 20 years old. Suicide survivor’s deal with a special kind of hell grief. It’s hard for others to understand and it’s hard for the grievers to understand. I just don’t want more people to feel the way my Mom did, or how I did before and after she died.
What inspires you?
TED Talks. All of them.
What is your dream?
To do this full time.
What really burns your biscuit?
Ignorance, ‘the hard sell’ from salespeople, secrets, and hypocrisy.
I’m most proud of:
What my husband and I have come through together, and the great collection of friends and family who love us unconditionally.
Your favorite holiday. Why?
Thanksgiving, because it reminds me of all the great things about my Mom and all the memories of the good times.
Your favorite quote:
“Mommy, you’re beautiful”-my son Griffin
I can’t live without:
Indoor plumbing. I’ve never been camping and I don’t intend on ever using a leaf to wipe my lady bits. Nope, nope, nope.
If could tell a younger you one thing, what would it be?
Chill out. Most of these people have no idea they are being assholes.
